Plus the ambulance used is a fake or a ringer, made from a florists van.

Plus the ambulance used is a fake or a ringer, made from a florists van. Agreed the car ringing is a likely reason. "Could have got a more modern one?" (the Ambulance) I like the hidden meaning about some of Trevor Preston's episode titles.

Trevor Preston mentions the episode title in the dvd commentary & how there was some puzzlement over it. I think as the title of the first episode of a new series it's not very good, after all how many viewers would be familiar with the word & what it meant? Preston was very fond of slang but he didn't seem to consider whether the audience would understand it. 'The Placer' is another title of his that would confuse people.
Preston uses the term again in the episode of 'Fox' where Ray recovers Kenny's car, a character he meets refers to 'well rung motors'.

Absolute classic series opener
Cracking dialogue, great locations, superb cast, good villains - it's got the lot

Can anyone tell me which football ground is in the scene where Regan and Carter try to get information from the bloke with the greyhound. Guessing it's a non-league ground given its size.

Dulwich Hamlet were live on TV last Friday night on BBC2 for their FA Cup first round tie against Carlisle. I've never been there but take a passing interest in them. I'd never have recognised the ground from the clip in Ringer. It's certainly changed a bit over the intervening years. Dulwich have got quite a sizeable support these days as they're the hipsters choice.
More generally I really enjoyed seeing the locations around Peckham. It made a change from the usual west London locations.

It was rebuilt in 1991 on the same site as the original. Gene.
