I think the EM1 electric locos on the Manchester to Sheffield Woodhead line had that feature too

I think the EM1 electric locos on the Manchester to Sheffield Woodhead line had that feature too Yeah - I heard that they had some form of regenerative breaking on them - and the breaking energy was used to generate electricity and put it back (via the pantograph) to the overhead wires. Not sure how much of the latter of that is true, but I'm pretty sure they had regenerative breaking.
Think there's an EM1 (or remains of) in Manchester Science Museum; also possibly one at NRM in York. 27000 was sat in a shed at Midland Railway at the Swanwick end when we visited a few years back.
Love the brass controls and panel legends in them.
