Argh this is such utterly sad news!!!! What can ya say!!! I remember John when I first started going on The Sweeney meets in 2011 and also seeing him at various classic car shows over the years. we always had good chats. He absolutely loved his classic cars didn't he, and the sweeney! and he loved doing the Sweeney film, Thieves & Wierdos' which I'm now gonna watch over the weekend and think of him. He was such a friendly guy! and his family must be heartbroken. Hope he's at peace now. RIP John

Desperately sad news about John.
Can only reiterate what others have said; at the various meets over the years such a nice, friendly, down to earth person. Knowledgeable about classic cars, retro TV and especially The Sweeney.
How fitting that he should play the part of Jack Regan in The Sweeney fan film, which he did so well and is a lasting legacy.
A great loss to this forum and the squad meets; RIP John.

So sad to read this news on the forum. Condolences and thoughts with his family. Tragic loss. I didn't meet John Croft but certainly remember him as a long time forum member with Sweeney and classic car posts.
I enjoyed his portrayal of Regan in the 'Thieves and Weirdos' short film. I remember the much fun portrayed in the posts when this was being made. Clearly a man who enjoyed family and life to the full. RIP John Croft.
