Ok here's a few snaps of the place No. 74 Torstraße 74 10119 Berlin As recommended by Steve Austin I was too efficient for the Germans that day as i got there at 1030 AM, only to find out that a lot of shops don't bother opening until midday. ..... Me old mate Barry the Radish recommended I " Go up the Fernsehen turm (television tower) in Alexanderplatz." So I did. Its a great view from up there in a fine example of 60's East German architecture. Dirty Epic said Get down to the DDR museum. I got myself down there and did some spying on East German 60's youth, who had dared to listen to Rock and Roll !! Sampled a typical DDR flat Its a bit like a certain flat in Peckham And got banged up as a political prisoner Well thats enough of Berlin from me. If you want to see some Funeral in Berlin Now and Then snaps I took click the link below. Funeral In Berlin Now and Then Photo'sCheers for all the great advice it was really helpful. Don't forget to post in this thread if your planning to travel anywhere. You could end up with some great pointers

Glad you had a good time Del. There's way more to see & do. A few days really isn't enough. As I said, I go at least once a year & have done for 15 yrs or more & I still find something different every time. It's a city with lots of history. Some ancient & a lot fairly recent that we can relate to or remember. The DDR & WW2 stuff particularly interests me. If you know where to look you can still see plenty of reminders such as bullet holed brick work & so on. They've only just started patching some of them in in the the last 2 years. There are quite a few Albert Speer designed/built buildings left too. Some of the ones left were used by the NAZI government, such as the Air Ministry etc.

Always fancied visiting that bad egg Hitler's bunker, though I'm told it's closed on Tuesdays if you plan on going. That flat looks very cosy though.

Yes I agree with you Barry there's so much history there it will take a few visits to see it properly. I'd love to see places with the Bullet holes so I'll speak to you again on here when i go back. Hitlers Bunker was on the to do list Arthur alas I ran out of time but its a good excuse to go back. The DDR flat was supposed to show you how basic and old fashioned life was under soviet rule but me being a lover of 60's and 70's decor I liked it. Reminds me of the Trotter abode. It just needed a bar

Great pictures Del, thanks for posting them up. Are you sure you were banged up for political crimes and not those shorts you were wearing ?
Gene.

Sorry to break it to you, but Hitlers bunker is long gone. It's under a car park now next to a block of flats which were built on top of the Reich chancellery.
