Found this vid of Bus racing. They are using ex London Transport DMS's one of which i note is a N plate so would of only been 7 year old here and already retired. Wasting taxpayers money is nowt new then. Yeah I've seen that Bus Racing clip with the DMS's on ITV4 a few times, I think it was used as filler before their programme's started, sports events etc. Great the way the drivers can handle these around a oval track without too much body roll too.
As Cartman say's LT prematurely withdrew the DMS/Fleetline's and many other modern vehicle types very quickly sometimes blowing shedloads of cash on them along the way too. This article I found sum's this up quite well. It is interesting both Ensign and other operators - around the world got good service from vehicles LT felt were 'lemons' sometimes leaving them to rot after just 3-4 years of them being in service.
LT did better with both Leyland's Titan and MCW Metrobus, but again both of these weren't as such 'London' buses and perhaps things like tendering, privatisation etc. kept those types on the road for a good 20 years or more. Like the DMS they also seemed to work well for other operators as secondhand purchases too!
It would be nice to think today's TfL doesn't make these costly mistakes but... Yes I know!

I noticed this little tribute to Derek Fowlds just now. He talks about his life and career in this brief video clip. A few forum members had the pleasure of seeing him a few months ago at an Elstree event so I though I'd post it up. The video only went up on YouTube this morning as apparently, Derek's funeral takes place today.

A short film from 1964 about actress & singer Queenie Watts, a familiar face on tv & film from the 60's & 70's, she was about 40 when the film was made, she died aged 56. Much of the film is set in the pub she & her husband ran, The Iron Bridge Tavern, where she also regularly sang & played the piano with a band.

Excellent find Arthur. Really enjoyed that. Queenie's pub, The Iron Bridge Tavern on East India Dock Road, I've been past a few times. Queenie and her husband ran it between 1959 & 1965. Sadly, like a lot of pubs it was demolished a few years ago (2012.) Thanks for posting the video Arthur Gene.

Nice film Arthur, instantly recognisable from the bar room brawl in "Alfie".

Changing the subject and not quite a YouTube find but I found Club Culture 1988 which I'd not seen for 30 odd years when Channel 4 showed it late '88. Appreciate this may not be everyone's thing and some of it I'll admit hasn't aged well but it's a good time capsule of that period - the House bit in the middle particularly, and it sort of explains how things changed on the recent TOTP repeats too.

Thanks for sharing that club culture clip - I've had that Video on keeping me company supposedly working from home this morning. Brings back some fond memories of clubbing in Chester and Liverpool for me!
