Anyone remember Andy Pandy, Bill and Ben or the Wooden tops on Watch with mother?! Yep!. All of those, including The Herbs, with Constable Knapweed, Bayleaf the gardener, Lady Rosemary and the one and only Parsley et al. The golden age of kids TV. Gene. Yes I remember all of those as well as Tales Of The Riverbank, Noggin the Nog, Ivor The Engine, Rag Tag and Bobtail, Pogles Wood, Bizzy Lizzy and obviously the Trumptonshire series that I mentioned before. There were some models made back in the late 90's of some of the Camberwick Green characters. I managed to get hold of two of them as I knew my mother loved watching them too so I got her Mrs Honeyman and Dr Mopp, they still stand on the cabinet in the lounge to this day. Sam

Tales of the Riverbank is another winner. Although it a probably best not to think too much about how some of it was filmed. I remember one where there was a flood and all the animals were wet. Getting a hamster wet doesn’t sound like a good move whatever the reason but, hopefully it was alright on the night.

Captain Pugwash anyone with Roger the cabin boy! There have been numerous urban rumours about the character names but they're not true. The cabin boy was called Tom and not Roger, the Master was Mate and not Bate, and there was no Seaman called Stain although there were two pirates called Barnabus and Willy. Sam.

Thank goodness you included that "h"! That took me a while to understand. Perhaps our senses of humour are on slightly different planes, 3L? Yeah, sorry! Probably different planets. You’ll get used to it. Eventually.

No you can't wring them out, they have to be tumble-dried although that only works if the little buggers don't run around the tub like a giant wheel. The lead hamster would have been okay, they probably had a stunt double for him / her. Sam.

My daughter wants hamsters, she has one guinea pig, the other passed away. She's got a thing about chickens as well, think she have a whole farmyard if she could.

Well a hamster won’t crap everywhere or need anything like as much space. Though, disappointingly, nor can they supply eggs. But she can only have one Syrian - they do not live in pairs or groups. I’m going to get the Gene Hunt glare from the office now for talking about something else Quickly, before he notices! I do remember having a VHS of Watch with Mother but I can only assume it was highlights or something because it definitely wasn’t lots of episodes. I remember a bit of Bill and Ben (“weeeeed!”) and Rag, Tag and Bobtail all looking for the rabbit babies who were found in the muddy puddle. Muffin the Mule prancing about the stage and The Woodentops who had a large Dalmation and it turned out my mum was absolutely petrified of him when she was little . All in black and white of course.
