No, she doesn't die because she's talking to him in the hospital and breaks up with him etc. But yes, I can't say we miss her in series 2!

I've just rewatched this episode.
I'd not seen it since the series first aired and, aside from the basic premise, I hadn't remembered much about it. I certainly can't recall now how it all plays out. It makes me wonder if I saw it through to the bitter end. I know I enjoyed it at the time so I probably did.
The 70s are brilliantly realised - especially all the smoking.
I'll be moving on to episode two soon.
Thanks to Alex Drake for initiating the discussion and to everyone else who has commented.

I’m glad you’re re-watching! :) I must get onto episode 2!
The smoking is crazy to me. They’re all (presumably, I know Ray was and I’d assume they must all be) smoking menthols cigarettes which I’ve just been informed are being banned?? I’ve never smoked or lived with anyone who smokes in my life but I was under the impression that they weren’t as harmful; hence their use on screen. So I’m not sure why they’re being banned ... ?

Didn’t know they’d banned Menthols, I always thought they were lesser of the evils of other cigarettes! I thought Ray smoked even more in Ashes 2 Ashes then LOM

I’m sure you’ll enjoy it even better Lord Em the second time around- years later! we’ve just started watching the series again! Lol after only just finished watching recently last March before the prosponed meet! So when the series is watched again, it will be back on to Ashes 2 Ashes again! Argh” time goes soo quick! Hard to think that 3 month as passed since the proposed LOM got cancelled! It’s weird coz it’s only just over 3 month till the next one is, due to take place, if ya know what mean! Hmm where does time go ha!!!

Menthols are not significantly less harmful, they are just mint flavoured - this is the reason they are being banned as they may be more attractive to young people. The cigarettes used on screen are usually herbal ones rather than menthol. The Saint

Young people are all on vape machines; even those who have never smoked That was a pretty impressive move. I imagine the uptake of smoking prior to vaping was probably the lowest it had ever been and now I bet it's rocketed back up again.
