I was not a big raver or anything but remember that particular track as it seemed to be a cut above a lot of that stuff during that era. Mind you that entire chart does a good job of cherry picking the best stuff. Well up to the 2010s when I must admit I don't know the tunes at all. Burial is the last one I recognise Interesting you mention Burial they an the likes of Bicep, George FitzGerald, Rebekah, Charles Fenkler etc. are fairly new artists on this scene who've interest me right now. Worth checking out if you like or sort of like this stuff.

Here’s a link to an interesting piece from 6 Music about 30 tracks that have shaped dance music since 1988… yes it is that long ago since we’ve have this Dance Music culture with us. www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/articles/5ZF19S8FTX9WJcnr5j9JF3x/30-tracks-that-shaped-dance-musicAn odd one or two aside these tracks, like Pacific State, Windowlicker, Little Fluffy Clouds, Papua New Guinea, LFO, The Man With The Red Face, Voodoo Ray, Born Slippy.NUXX, Belfast etc. etc. have pretty much influenced me musically. Some of you may not like this sort of music – fair enough, but I though it was an interesting piece and I do know a few forum members like this stuff like me – enjoy. I have to admit I have heard of none of those! As Wayne said in Auf Wiedersehen Pet 'Don't think you have Son!'

I've read through the list of 30 and only know the following:
Inner City - Big Fun 808 State - Pacific State Underworld - Born Slippy The Prodigy – Firestarter
I was doing a lot of driving for work at the time so listened to a lot of music but out of those only Born Slippy and Firestarter featured in the car CD, the rest didn't cut the Coleman's at all.

Sam I don't know many more than you Sam, having seen the list I can only add the following as acts I've heard: The Orb Goldie Bjork Chemical Brothers Daft Punk La Roux Aphex Twin I'm not a fan at all of Daft Punk, I find there stuff boringly repetitive and as for The Underworld and Born Slippy, what a pile of Sorry, just don't get it. If some of those on the list are influential, I thought I would have seen Unkle somewhere on there To be fair, dance music is not my bag at all so take those comments with a pinch of salt.

In all seriousness you might well remember the track. It made the charts and the bass was really something on a decent soundsystem....
Interesting fact about it and Warp was they sold (licenced) their tracks to Rhythm King (Outer Rhythm) for £20 Grand in 1989 which on the surface wasn't a bad deal. Outer Rhythm then seemed to take all the credit when the Yorkshire Bass & Bleep scene took off and when LFO sold over 100,000 copies Warp realised they'd bern done a bit by the Rhythm King deal they'd signed. Then Nightmares on Wax, Sweet Exorcist, Tricky Disco etc. all sold big numbers too... It almost finished off Warp but they with a bit of help from Mute's Daniel Miller got out the deal and went on to have a very successful label which is still with us. Rhythm King sort of faded away by the mid '90's... think they pulled a similar trick with Leftfield which prevented them releasing anything for 2-3 years too! www.residentadvisor.net/features/3557I didn't know any of that Dirty Epic - fascinating stuff it is too. Thanks
