Just heard this on the radio this morning David Bellamy has died aged 86.
He was certainly a one-off in the natural world side of things. RIP David.

RIP David.
His career took a nose dive when he stated the climate change was a load of rubbish.

Sad news
I always like David and his presenting style; quirky, eccentric, yet interesting and a presenter with a sense of humour ready to accept imitation and ridicule. It was a shame his career took a turn for the worse. His opinion may have been unfounded but it was a personal opinion and I'm sure in retrospect he wished he'd kept it as that, personal.
R.I.P. David

RIP David, liked the way he didn't take himself seriously & joined in with the impersonations.

RIP David; probably best remembered for Lenny Henrys impersonation of him these days but I remember him from some of the programmes I watched as a lad.

Very sad news. He was a very iconic TV personality. Of course he was a botanist and not a climatologist. Some of the comments he made were based on false data (which he later acknowledged).

RIP David Bellamy - a regular fixture on TV on childrens programmes and nature programmes he presented - many of them very interesting. Never sure where his accent came from but his distinctive voice and bearded appearance as others have said made him prime material for impersonators - Lenny Henry's being particularly memorable ("Well Grapple me Grapenuts"!) - Didn't he make a record (Brontosaurus will you wait for me!?).
I believe he was involved in some environmental protest in Australia many years ago which made the news as he got arrested, but he was very gracious about accepting, after he was let off with a warning, stating the Policeman was "Nice bloke really, just doing his job".
Shame he didn't make more research about his beliefs on Global Warming, surprises me in a way that he though that.

Came across as a lovely bloke who you'd be happy to have a pint with.
RIP.
