An interesting look at the history of the Ford Cortina...

Good vid that Gene. Had a few Cortinas myself in the past. A few Mk2s a Mk4 and a three Mk5s. Always wanted a Mk3 and would still love a Mk1.

My favourite car of all time!, Had a mark 2 and three mark 5s, drove a mark 1 once, and Mark, 4s many times as the place I worked at on the late 70s/early 80s had a fleet of them. The only one I haven't driven is a mark 3.
My favourite version, hard to say, as I like all five versions.

My favourite car of that type/cost. Never had one myself but my Dad had 1600 Super Mk2, 2 litre GXL Mk3 and 2 litre Ghia Mk4.
Got to drive the last one, which was a nice auto.
Far better looking than its replacement, the Sierra.

I remember all the Cortinas when they were common, although some of the MK1 and 2's were a bit tatty by the late 70's. Never have driven one sadly, although been a passenger over the years in many;
A childhood friends dad's silver automatic MK2 Super, they had in the late 70's, and about 4 MK3's as a small child, (one was a family friends red, 2.0GXL which he had from new)
A pale green MK5, 1.6GL saloon, another friend of my dads had from new, W reg and he did 200,000 miles in over 10 years!
Same man previously had a brown late model MK3 base model P reg, with single round headlamps, but that got written off - (That was another MK3 I had been a passenger in - not the day it got written off though!)
Another different childhood friend's dad had a very ropey pale blue MK3 2.0XL facelift estate, for a couple of years in the 80's till it was replaced by a much tidier S reg metallic blue MK4 1.6L estate. I was a passenger in both of those too.
A mate of mine I've known from the Escort owners club, now has a 1965 MK1 Cortina Super 4 door, he has known since he was a child when it was owned by his parents neighbour across the street. It languished in that garage from the late 70's until it was moved when the old owner died, and he was able to buy it from the executors in 2009! Still needs finishing though at the moment.
