... - they do odder things like show the opening titles of a starting episode, then immediately stop for the "commercial break" - before returning to the programme. That is for the simple reason that their opening credits are so protracted.
What really grates for me is when the credits are continually flashed up over the program instead of having set introductions where the credits finish completely and the program starts. That is just one of the reasons why I very rarely watch anything that the septics have produced.
Looks like I've veered off here so:
Sam.

A fair bit of British stuff is playing out the same way these days too Sam. Can't say I'd spend much time watching telly when I'm in the US. Yep. i

Great vid's Del, loved the naivety of the reporter about how cut n shut's (crashed repairables nowadays) get back on the road. The driver who smaahed that fairly new V-reg Escort back then must have been pretty bad to have taken the front end out that much!

It was pretty folded wasn't it but i suppose we have to remember these cars did perform differently in accidents. Some of the whackers in that yard look like they were in some big old shunts.

I remember that Right off report. According to the DVLA the R reg MK2 Escort was repaired and returned to the road, staying around until 1989!

Great stuff, really enjoyed the James Bond clip Del Boy. Reminded me to dig out this one of Tony Bastable meeting director Lewis Gilbert to talk about the Lotus Esprits in 'The Spy Who Loved me', 1977... videos.tube/video/64cMRlgD3n4/lotus-esprit-james-bond-car-lewis-gilbert-interview-drive-in-1977What a great year that was too - the new and much anticipated Bond movie, the futuristic looking range of cars from Lotus, the first episode of The Professionals, The Sweeney was still on, A Bridge Too Far and Star Wars on at the flics... happy days indeed. 1977 was a truly fantastic year, Villian. Jointly my favourite ever, along with 76.
