The theme to Screen Test reminds me of the theme to Roobarb, not surprising as the composers of each of these themes, Syd Dale & Johnny Hawksworth, appeared on LPs together. Another great theme is Bod which I've just noticed sounds a lot like the theme to Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em.

Oh yes, used to like Screen Test! For some bizarre reason, the start of this reminds me of the theme to the Brittas Empire and Soldier Solider..... perhaps just me!

Theme to 'The Main Chance'-
The same man, John Malcolm, did this familiar theme used on ITN News-
I know this thread is turning into a "reminds me of" thread but "The Main Chance" reminds me of this:

With Gary Holton being discussed elsewhere Here's his theme tune for "Murphys Mob".
The ball at the start was there to enable some clever trickery with the "Central" globe logo to morph into it. They also did this with S2 on "Auf Pet" with the globe morphing into a roulette ball.
Many of the still photos were taken in and around Derby before it was redeveloped.
A bulk of the series was shot at the old Baseball Ground (former home to Derby County FC)
Couple of Sweeney stars thrown in there too! Also - some Auf Pet crew on there.

Thanks for posting the 'Main Chance' theme Arthur, I've got the dvd on order from Amazon..... if only to identify the Class 47 loco in the title sequence! Only kidding... . There are loads of long forgotten series like this available now, the quality can vary quite a lot but a surprising number of them are still enjoyable to watch. Villain

Just checked and the first series aired in '69, but the clip you posted shows a 47 on a rake of air-conditioned Mk2d coaches which weren't introduced until '71, even so if it was shot in '71 the 47 should have its original four digit number at both ends on - difficult to tell in the grainy b&w footage though! Chances are that footage was shot on the Western Region mainline out of Padd or the ECML out of KX, they were the first routes to have the air-con stock . (Railway nerd mode off ) Villain
