Just started watching the original tv series, on Netflix! Haven’t seen it for years! forgot how good it was! and quite a lot of episodes to get through, considering Twas only 3 series.. the story lines are well good for the period! Literally Quite addictive! And a lot of um seem like they’re ahead of their time.. GC

The original series was the best by some way. Good, compact sci-fi stories that hold up today.
I like the fact that the back story makes some sense ie the rules surrounding the federation and its aims.
Also the limited effects don't take over the story unlike modern sci-fi most of which I don't like.

I'm not fussy on modern science fiction films myself. The only Star Wars film Ì've ever seen was 'The Empire Strikes Back' in the seventies, and I didn't enjoy that. I liked the original 'Star Trek' series though, but I've never watched even one of the Star Trek films.
Anyone remember the 'p***take' film they made about Star Trek? it was called Galaxy Quest.
Charles.

I didn't dislike the original Star Trek series, but that's all as far as Sci fi goes for me, I'm not a fan of it. Galaxy Quest was good, yes. Another send up one I liked was the series of Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy

Yeah the hitch hikers guide to the galaxy was hilarious and quirky! I used to have the follow up but in the form of a book! If I can remember I’m pretty sure it was called something like, the restaurant at the end of the universe lol!

To be completely honest I have never really enjoyed Star Trek but I can see its camp and kitsch appeal... It's very similar to the 'OTT' 60's interpretation of Batman in my eyes!! How very dare you sir! The best of the US sci-fi stuff of that era, at least they had a good go at it making sense within it’s own imagined universe. As for that eras Batman, “Holy pile of crap Robin “!
