Agree with TL on Granadas. The mark 1 was a superb car, the 2 was OK, but not as stylish, it looked a bit like an enlarged mark 4/5 Cortina, but the shape worked better on the smaller car. All the ones after the mark 2 were awful

I thought the Mk2 was every bit as good and stylish as the Mk1. Even the facelift Mk2 up to (was it 1985?) was a gorgeous looking motor with a great on road presence. After that though..

Spot on Terry. The mk2 Granada and the facelift mk2 Granada are as good and stylish as the mk1. Yes they looked like larger versions of the mk4 and mk5 Cortina but in my book that's not a bad thing, quite the opposite in fact. The mk3 Granada certainly wasn't my cup of Tetley and that's before we get onto the booted versions and the Scorpio. Sam

Thanks for posting Gene, I had saw that on Youtube but have never got round to clicking on those vids. Good little docs them and a sort of update of the old "The Cars the Star" which Slippery Quentin Wilson used to do. Must watch some others!
My 2 favourite Granadas are the first two of course but never got so keen on the MK3 after the initial interest after launch. As for the Frog eye Scorpio......... oh dear........
NHK293M the blue coupe MK1 was used in Brannigan by the bent lawyer played by Mel Ferrer.

The Mk 1 is my favourite.
I like the Mk2 but prefer the early pre-facelift versions as I think with the passage of time they look more pure and less dated than the later versions.

Nah. As much as I do like the mk1, the mk2 for me was the better of the two. The scorpio thing though? How on earth did anyone conclude that was the way to go?

Ford had lost the plot by the time that that Scorpio thing came out. They got progressively worse as the 80s wore on and seemed to surrender to Vauxhall who took over as the best car range at that time

Think the Mk2 Granada was part of Fords idea of a corporate look for all their cars hence the similarities to the MK4 Cortina.
They wanted all their cars to be recognisable as Fords so at the front they all has the black slatted grille with the blue oval in the middle & square headlights. This continued into the MK2 facelift Granada & the MK5 Cortina along with the MK3 Escort. They also tried it on the MK1 Fiesta & I think the Fiesta was the first car in the range to deviate from that with the introduction of the MK2 range that had the sloping bonnet; a theme that also produced the Granada Scorpio too.
