Some more from the Archive....
First up - some 35mm slides.
This a junction slide from around 1985/86 for 'Crossroads'.
As you can see this is a proper paste up job; the Photo, and bottom caption (in Letraset!) would be made up onto card and photographed.
This was a daily thing at most TV stations - where programme menus would need to be made up.
A B&W 'Central' "cake" logo - anyones gues where and when this was used.
The 'cake' style logo (above in colour and below) was introduced during 1985.
Not much to say about this one...
Test-Card 'C' - used throughout the 1960s; and still in use well into the late 1980s (for B&W monitors).
Strictly for Midlands viewers only.
This a static slide grab from the animated opening titles to the local nightly ATV news magazine.
These titles were entitled "Old Counties" - and date from around 1978/9, and would alternate with another set.
A grainy slide caption for "Man in a Suitcase".
At 35mm slide frame, though not from the 1984 animated title.
This was used with a digital clock superimposed under the caption, just before the ITN news, News at 10 or closedown.
This a 35mm slide of the "1982" globe. Though not from the animated version.
As we were talking of Schools programmes:
Both versions of this "clock" were in fact mechanical.
The artwork was mounted on a 10x8inch board, black backed with white typeface.
At the 12 o'clock position, a slit was cut vertically, the RH section bent back.
From behind, a sprial black card shutter would rotate out, obscuring each digit. There was a couple of time where this did rewind live on air.
On air it was blue, electronically added.
There was also a standby version on 35mm film.
Again, strictly for midlands viewers - this from the 1978 Spring Promotions animations/slides.
This a scan of some 16mm film (notice how grainy it is compared to the 35mm stuff).
See if I can find some more....
Enjoy!
