Andy McNab was on Radio 4 today and it prompted me to recall the his book and the subsequent investigations into that action in the Gulf War.
Michael Asher did a thorough investigation and went to Iraq and the exact locations that McNab referred to, speaking to some of the locals who even had some of the weapons discarded by the squad. However he could find no evidence of the large scale actions and deaths of so many Iraqi soldiers. Additionally, Peter Radcliffe who was the RSM of 22 SAS sent McNab never mentioned any of the heroics when he gave a briefing to the squadron, which was recorded.
To add to the confusion, Chris Ryan and Mike Coburn, two more surviving members seem to differ from McNab.
So I find it difficult to believe McNab's account is accurate I'm afraid.
Asher wrote a book, The Real Bravo Two Zero which C4 ran as a documentary, think its on YouTube.
