Hello. Who wants to be a show off? I recall watching a TV programme (though now I'm questioning whether it was a small British film instead) in I think the late 80s. All I can tell you about it was I'm sure it was aimed at children. It was set in Yorkshire I believe and involved a lad who lived with his Grandad and was obsessed by a story about a wild beast that was roaming the moors. He finally has a confrontation with this beast which turns out be be a jaguar or panther though noone believes him. Any ideas? I have another one but I'll wait for the lucky winner who identifies this. In all seriousness please help.

It rings a distant bell with me as well. Was Donald Sumpter in it?
Welcome to 4:3tv by the way David.

I think I know the film you mean David, I saw it a few years ago on yt, it's called 'The Nature Of The Beast'. Weirdly enough I dug out a dvd of another film by the same director ( Franco Rosso ) only the other day to sell on ebay. According to the uploader the VHS copy on youtube belonged to the actor Tony Melody who plays the grandad in the film. Don't think it's had a dvd release.
Piece of trivia- my dad used to work in an office in Blackpool & says he regularly saw Tony Melody, who lived in Blackpool, going for a walk.

I vaguely remember it, it was filmed in Lancashire, Burnley or Haslingden I think. The lad borrowed a camera and tried to get a photo of the beast.

By strange coincidence, Tony Melody (Chunder from The Nature Of The Beast) was in an episode of Public Eye tonight on TPTV. Anyway,

Forgot to add that I saw Tony Melody in person when I went to see Bruce Forsyth's one man show at the Grand Theatre Blackpool in 1988. It was after the show had ended, he was by himself looking at some old photographs on the theatre wall. I didn't know his name at the time but I recognised his face. I also went to Bruce's one man show the previous year & saw Ray Allan in the bar. Showbiz anecdotes
Melody played Dennis Waterman's dad in a 1973 ITV play 'Brotherly Love', this is on the 'Alan Plater At ITV' dvd.
