The documentary was very interesting, not least because they got access to the actual vault and you could see that although they had cleared the mess up it was otherwise as it was left during the raid. The business collapsed after the raid I think.
Collins, who was the lookout complained that it was all Reader's fault they got caught, Reader being the planner who gave up when the hydraulic jack broke. However it was Collins car that got spotted early on because he used it in the vicinity of the job, plus they stupidly bought the second jack in the open, allowing the police to track faces and cars.
Seems to me the raid is the easy bit compared to turning the loot into usable and untraceable cash, you have to involve other people and the risks rocket.
The police usually catch the actual blaggers very rarely get all the funds back in these types of crime. Don't be the actual blagger if you want to get anything out of it. Having said that I read up about Brinks Mat and of the six armed men, they only convicted two and don't know who the other four are.
Another point is that because it was only a burglary and not an armed robbery the sentences were a lot less, they were getting 22 years for Brinks Mat and Security Express in Shoreditch, compared to 7 to 10 years for Hatton Garden, although they are at risk of more porridge if they don't hand back £Millions.
These people are real low life though, they ruined lives during that theft was people lost their businesses, Perkins was involved with Brinks Mat were they poured petrol over the guards to get information and Reader was present when Noye killed the DC Fordham the undercover cop in his garden. How the hell the jury didn't convict him is a mystery, just because you find a stranger in you garden at night you have no right to knife him.
The lot of them are scum.
