Another thing I don't get: The whole "Fast and Furious" malarkey. I saw a trailer for the latest one the other day, I don't know what number they're up to now but it has the mono-character Jason Statham in it. No, utterly boring creations. Besides; there's only one man I have any desire to see driving like that

Summers Great for the Evenings, Beer Gardens...
Though not so great when you're working out in full noon day sun - or trapped inside to great stately home lit with 96kW of lighting....
In a weird way, I love winter - except early morning starts!!!
I love winter! Where do you work? That sounds a strange combination. I'm one of those miserable gits who spend their working life watching Actors and Actresses balls up their lines for near on 15+ takes

There are a few who will fluff their lines on purpose, just to get another take - esp if it's running into the last few minutes of their call - if they run over their 'official' finishing time (that printed on the call sheet), they'll get a bit more money - even for running over 30seconds. And the rate is much more substantial than our - 1 extra hour at time & a half, or (if they are short of cash and very cheeky) they'll try and pay you a missed meal break. (Which is bugger all in comparison).
Ironically, it was Euston Films who fought for decent rates for over running in 1973. An over run could mean the crew finishing much later - as they have to load trucks up when everyone else has vanished, and then normally they'd travel back to base to collect their cars before thinking about going home.
Many things to thank Euston Films for . Bless 'em

I don't get why escalators that are not functioning, out of use, whatever you wish to call it, have to have a barrier across the front of them to prevent people using them.
I encountered this at Waterloo station this morning at a set of escalators up to one of the platforms. The down escalator was working (and was empty) but the up escalator was barriered off. The ever-helpful South Western Trains customer service woman that was clearly the 'escalator monitor' just grunted "Lift!" and pointed for me to walk in the opposite direction. Why?
Surely a non-functioning escalator just becomes a flight of stairs?
Is it a Health and Safety thing that I'm not allowed to walk up them despite having over 55 years experience of using stairs?

Sam Strangely enough Sam, the escalators at my local shopping centre and bus station are often out of order, but people are allowed to use them as stairs when they are not functioning. Vi

There's a horrible cctv video on yt of a woman with her child on an otherwise empty escalator in a shopping mall in China, as they reach the top a loose panel on the floor opens up like a sinkhole & the mother is swallowed into it, the child was pulled away by mall staff who were luckily standing at the top of the escalator, but despite a rescue effort the mother was trapped for hours & eventually died.
