I was bought "Father Abraham In Smurfland" ( still have it ). The song I still remember & now seems odd for a children's record is 'Smurfing Beer' which has the lyrics 'Smurf, Smurf, Smurfing Beer, you don't get drunk & it isn't dear'. The 'isn't dear' part is good but what use is a beer that doesn't get you drunk unless you're that plonker Rodders with his non alcoholic lager top?

The record I'm most embarrassed about having is also the first record I bought and that's "Ebony & Ivory". Ebony and Ivory is an awful, lazy effort by two of music's heavyweights. I wasn't keen on it, even though I like the two artists. Maybe I listen to the right radio stations, because we don't hear this record very much.

Edit: Just heard it on an episode of Ashes to Ashes (Season 2, Episode 4) that I recorded last night.

And even that show that makes people enjoy 80s retro music can't make the song seem any better !

It was too 'nice' a song, given the previous standards of both artists.
Possibly we don't hear it now because although it promotes racial harmony, it distinguishes 'black' and 'white' as separate.
Or maybe it just isn't a very good song....?
