A BBC comedy that ran between 1979 and 1981 over three series. It starred Penelope Keith as Audrey Fforbes Hamilton who, because of death duties is forced to sell her manor house and estate and move to a small lodge on the edge of the estate. The new owner is a supermarket owning business man, Richard DeVere played by Peter Bowles.
During the christmas period i took the opportunity to visit Grantleigh Manor to get some now and then photos.
Grantleigh Manor then.
Now, Cricket House now a Warner Hotel complex near Chard in Somerset.
The hall, then.
And now.
The church on the estate, then.
And now.
The Lodge, which appears to be a few yards up the drive from the manor, then.
And now, in reality about 1 mile away from the manor.

Love the pics, great photos. Good to see locations even though it wasn't a programme I was a massive fan of.

Well done Peter. Great then and now shots.
I've only ever seen bits of the series, but I have been meaning to catch some of it for a while now. I like Penelope Keith.
I saw Penelope in A West End play once in the eighties with an actor called Peter Jefferies (Not sure but he might have been in The Sweeney once.) anyway it was boring as hell so we walked out in the intermission.

Great pics PP, thanks for posting. I remember going to Cricket St. Thomas with Annie back in the early 80's while on holiday and recognising the house from the series. Although I was not an avid viewer of the series it was good to see and be able to relate to it. Sam.
