Jack, in response to Stan for suggesting he goes out with Mavis' mother:
"What? Me have a crack at her mother?"

I was watching this episode as it features one of Blakey's best insults ( 16 min 30 ) but then I found a bit of very risque dialogue at 12 min 15.

Famously from Blakey, usually to Stan: 'Oooh gawd, that's made my day that has aaaaaaargh' And in the OTB film during the mix up over a bag of washing outside the launderette.... Stan turns the tables on Blakey 'oh gawd, that's made my day'. Wonder if that's where the writers of the Dirty Harry film Sudden Impact got the idea.......

Blakey about Olive in Holiday On The Buses when she loses her costume in the swimming pool:
"Ere, it's like the moon comin' over the mountains"

Jack, in response to Stan for suggesting he goes out with Mavis' mother: "What? Me have a crack at her mother?" Interesting to see on imdb that the age difference between Reg Varney and Euinice Black who played Mavis' mother was less than 2 years.

I always thought it was a bit ridiculous to see Reg Varney who was in his mid to late 50s chasing girls in their 20s and 30s - and the girls actually being interested in him! The Saint

Pre-teen Mum Doris Hare ( born 1905 ) was 11 years older than son Reg Varney ( 1916 ), Bob Grant ( 1932 ) was 16 years younger than Reg V & Stephen Lewis ( 1926 ) ten years younger.
Carry On Camping came out the same year as the first series of OTB, Sid & Bernie are a similar pair to Stan & Jack. Not sure when this tradition of dirty old men leering at nubile birds began, seaside postcards perhaps.

I think it probably was seaside postcards which started it. Benny Hills act was largely based upon this joke too.

HoTB film by the pool:
Arthur re. his swimming shorts 'I borrowed them off the Inspector, it might have escaped your notice but he happens to be rather bigger than me'
Olive 'Everyone's bigger than you!'

I've recently read that there was a proposal to revive OTB, in 1990, with the original cast, it was to have been called Back on the buses and a pilot episode was written but never made. It was to have been set currently after bus deregulation (IMO the biggest cock up ever inflicted on public transport) and Stan and Jack were now running their own service, in competition with a much bigger and more professional operation being run by Blakey.
