RIP Dudley, a great character actor. My first memory of him was as Tinker in Lovejoy but shortly after I found out he had a prolific career going back decades. He had often villainous appearances (from memory) in a black and white "The Saint" episode, The Leather boys, Crossplot (from 1968) where he diced with Roger Moore again (and falls foul of Francis Matthews villain character) and another inept villain gang "goon" in the early 70's Childrens/family adventure film set in a car rally "Diamonds of Wheels" which I saw as a teenager on telly.
Then his brief comedic role in the George and Mildred film, where he tries to chat up Mildred at the roadside café, appearing to send up his motorbike riding hardcase roles about 15+ years earlier!
And his TV appearances such as Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) and Department S where he co-starred with Norman Eshley, playing similar heavies in both series. And Max Deller in The Sweeney, which he was superb in, sleazy and self serving, and appeared to change his persona to mix the upper class one minute and the low life villains the next. But in the end, it was proved that he was nobody special really, trying to run away and then gave in easy when Regan cornered him!

RIP Dudley Sutton.
I contacted Dudley a couple of years ago inviting him to join us at a Sweeney Meet. Sadly he was not up to it so I wished him all the best.

Sad news indeed.
I remember him mostly as Tinker in Lovejoy and of course as Max Deller, you changed the weights !
He also played a Motorcycle dealer, Archie Clanton in Series 2 of Boon who “acquired” Ken’s BSA and tried to sell it back to Ken for not a penny more than he paid for it, 150 pounds.
RIP Dudley.
