A lot to go at here, but I got thinking about it earlier. Here’s my top 10, in no particular order, except for the number 1, which is, in my opinion, unchallengeable!
Cliff Richard - Millennium Prayer Ditto - Mistletoe and Wine Agadoo The Birdie Song Jive Bunny Anything by Robson and bloody Jerome Some piece of crap called O Superman from about 1981, can’t remember who sang it Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney - The girl is mine Paul McCartney - Wonderful Christmas Time. Macca was either very good or just dreadful
And the winner, Shaddup your Face - Joe Dolce!! Every time that piece of utter aural vomit came on the radio I had to instantly turn it off for three minutes. Who bought this absolute tripe?

The Chicken Song by Spitting Image has got to be a candidate for worst song EVER! It also frustratingly kept the classic 'On My Own' by Michael McDonald and Patti Labelle off the top in 1986. Vi

For me it has to be Cliff's "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" and as I've mentioned more than once, the video that goes with it is absolutely dire:
I'm sure I'll be adding more...
Sam.

A right collection of cack there Carty - with for me, the possible exception of Jacko & Macko's The Girl Is Mine - which I don't mind. There are so many examples of pure awfulness but one recent one that springs to mind has to be that utter dirge "Human" by Rag & Bone Man. The song is so hateful and depressing. Gene.

Good idea for a thread Carty. I think there is more to this than meets the eye. After watching TOTP repeats over the last few years there has been no shortage of daft novelty records that are terrible and worse than that the fact that some hit the top spot like Joe Dolce. There has also been no shortage of big names releasing crud that didn't break the top 30. It s interesting as I'm sure there are differences in what we all like due to genre. I for instance am not a big fan of country so I will dislike some hits others love. My nominations are popular songs that are serious efforts that I detest.
I'm In The Mood For Dancing - The Nolans An awful song that has me in the mood for turning over to another station .
Don McLean - American Pie Good catchy chorus but my issue with it is it's far too long. Simply too many verses.
Gilbert O'Sullivan- Alone Again This is played on Gold a lot and I think it's sooooooooo boooooooooring. What a depressing ditty this is.
The Goombay Dance Band - That Poo Song That Was Number1🤪

Agree Del on country music, its awful and I associate it with American rednecks! Have to disagree though on the Nolan's I'm in the mood for dancing, I love that! Goes to show how diverse everyone s tastes are
