The advert didn't have the desired effect on you then Arthur. A wise choice staying away from Midland as they were a bit naff Here's another banker from the early 80s that I remember.

I have always been a huge telly addict and remember all of these adverts and more. I always liked the Public Information Films too and I could fill this thread up with 100's but I've picked this one, sing along now

TV ads have certainly dropped in quality & notice how few ads today feature well known Brit actors, spot the Sweeney faces in the American Express ad. Here's a few referenced in Auf Wiedersehen Pet-

Did anyone else spot Gwyneth Powell (Mrs McClusky from Grange Hill) in the American Express ad?
I think the Asda advert was the last thing Hattie Jacques filmed.

We were forever running around the youth reciting this!!

I remember the phone number at the end of this ad, funny how things come back to yer innit?
Another catchphrase that entered the UK public's lexicon, now fallen into disuse though there are probably people who still say 'it's for you-hoo' when the phone rings, maybe the same people who still use words like 'mega' & 'wally'.

These have all been great I haven't seen many of these for years but you instantly remember them when you play them. Strange that you couldn't recall them otherwise but they must be in the noggin somewhere
