Douglas Slocombe must be one of if not the oldest living British person involved in film making, he's 102 according to imdb! One of the great cinematographers, he worked on several Ealing classics.
Steve, I've got an LG blu ray player but I'm not the best person to ask as it's a multi region player ( cost over £200 ) which has proved quite tempremental.

Very strange as IMDB had him listed as 84 years of age when I looked yesterday, but 102 today.
I have a Sony PS3 & PS4 which both play Blu-ray Discs and both have been faultless.

I didn't realise you can play DVDs in a Blu-Ray player - thanks for the heads up on that Douglas Slocombe has worked on so many great films over the years, including '2001 : A Space Oddysey' and 'Silent Running', and I think he did some work on one or two of Nick Roeg's films. I've just found some more publicity and behind the scenes photos for 'Robbery' which I'll post up later. With the leaves falling from the trees it'll soon be the ideal opportunity to go and visit the railway bridge at Theddingworth to grab some photos, it's not far from me. Villain

Any recommendations on Blu-ray models? Not much of a techno geek.
I've got a Sony Blue Ray BDP-S3100, had it for about two or three years now. It's got various Apps on it for watching YouTube, Netflix, Amazon Prime, BBC Player etc. It was about seventy quid at the time I bought it. Yes you can watch ordinary DVD's on it. It's been okay, I used it mainly for watching YouTube stuff but we've had a smart telly for about a year now so I don't use it that much now, as I can watch YouTube on the smart TV. At the moment though, the only Blue Ray disc I've got is Lee Evan's " Final " gig. This new Blue Ray edition of Robbery sounds really good though, so I might buy it soon.

Just a quick note- don't be tempted to buy a cheaper "upscaling" dvd player, this is a dvd player with an hdmi socket. They wrongly claim to make dvds look 'close to blu ray quality' when all you're actually doing is watching your existing standard definition disc through an HD connection.
