I absolutely love crime and mystery stories. I read almost nothing else. There was a series which I found on Netflix a few months ago called Amber: www.imdb.com/title/tt2224645/?ref_=fn_al_tt_2 Really, really good, we were completely hooked and then ... nothing. No explanation at all. Complete waste of 4 hours! Only then did I read reviews (I never like to read them beforehand in case of spoilers!) and wish I had because everyone was up in arms about the ending. Extremely disappointing!

Something else which was quite big at the time and I tried to get into was Happy Days, with The Fonz. Quite a few of the lads at school watched it circa 76-7 ish so I gave it a try, and wanted to like it, but, unfortunately, I thought it was crap!

Happy Days? I didn't even try to like it. I think I watched it just the once and couldn't take to the typical septic humour with the canned laughter. The same could be said for The Monkees, canned laughter appearing and telling the viewing public when to laugh when stuff just wasn't funny.

I didn't mind those shows. I watched them on repeat where they were showed in kids tv time. I seem to remember The Monkees would be on in the six week holiday and as for Happy Days, I seem to remember watching it on Saturdays on ITV. I do agree on the canned laughter thing though. To this day American shows are overloaded with it.

The Monkees, could be pretty childish but in an inoffensive way - it made under 14's laugh I suppose as it did me and my brother and years later remembered lines from it!

Happy Days? I was only saying last week that it was a show I never bothered watching for more that a minute.
I was surprised to hear that it lasted for eight or nine serie's.

The series in which David Jason played a Royal bodyguard a few years ago was a disappointment. It wasn't very funny, and David was way too old for that part by then anyway.

Yes I watched an episode of it and I agreed with the nation who by and large slated it. It's a fairly rare occurance for Sir David to be associated with a flop.

This has just reminded me of a series which definitely didn’t disappoint- The Wonder Years. I’ve only ever seen it once when it was being repeated on UK Gold (god I miss that channel) but I remember loving it. Anyone else?

Yes I remember watching this too, can't remember exactly when but I enjoyed it. Haven't seen it since, it's one of those ones I keep meaning to re-watch but keep putting it off in case it's not as good as I remember. I liked the colour of the film as much as anything else, it really captured the look and feel of the late sixties/early seventies.
