Thread resurrection.
Interesting Vi, between the lines suggests that some kind of fall out amongst one or more cast/crew is the reason behind the DVD release getting blocked not so much a case of being ashamed or disowning the final result.
Reckon the issues with Spender are quite similar too.

Quite a likely possibility DE It's interesting to note that the retro BBC shows seem to have more issues with DVD/Blu-ray releases than the ITV ones. Vi

Target comic lasted 19 issues, every Friday from April to August 1978. Not sure if the intention was to promote the tv show but it did feature a 'Target' comic strip as well as strips of Kojak, Charlie's Angels, Cannon & Hazell.
The Sweeney features on the cover of issue 14, I couldn't find any smudges of the contents of this issue.

Arthur, on the front of the first issue I see an interview with Nicholas Ball is mentioned . I presume he's talking about the series Hazell. Are there any smudges of the inside of this one available to view? Cheers Vi

I remember thinking Target was a Sweeney imitation at the time, like a few others i guess.
They’re all about tough, no nonsense, not by the rules types.
Dirty Harry was essentially that. A cop who thought if you could shoot straight with large calibre handguns you were a natural for the job.

The first two Dirty Harry films were good but the series went on the slide later, Target I never rated at all, I just thought it was a belated and greatly inferior rip off of the Sweeney. It lacked the characterisation and clever writing as well as the natural acting and humour which made The Sweeney so outstanding

Agree on Dirty Harry, the ones in the 80s were dreadful.
The plot for Deadpool was bizarre.
