Thanks Vienna. So Central was an amalgamation of two regions then.

Somebody has recreated this, and it is absolutely on the button as to how Scottish Television started their daily schedule of broadcasting :-
From the countrywide Test Card, they went to a screen with all the available transmitters showing the frequency an engineer would need to tune your tv to to get a signal. It then cuts to an STV logo to enable all the transmitters to sync. Finally, a voice over welcomes you to Scottish Television before the schedule of daily programmes starts. The music is exactly what they played over these test cards and sequencing intervals.
Incidentally, in the IBA Test Card that's showing, the 'X' in the noughts and crosses games is used to mark the exact centre of your tv screen. So there's a reason for it, and most of the other things in the test card are for colour bleed, colour spectrum, light/black definition, and edge focus.

Great thread, I can remember most of those. The Anglia one was a rare one in my area but we'd see it from time to time, maybe for 'Survival' or something like that?
Anyhow they also made me think of when BBC1 used to closedown of a night:
Saturday 29th December 1979:
And the very last one:
Sam.

Nice one Sam. They certainly evoke some happy memories don't they ?
I remember the Anglia one leading into Sale Of The Century.
This Central ident and jingle is synonymous with Auf Wiedersehen, Pet for me.
The Central TV Start up ident is very familiar to me. Not sure how countrywide it stretched but I'm sure some on here will remember it.
Incidentally, the music was composed by another legend of TV library music (The Sweeney, Minder etc) and former member of The Shadows Brian Bennett in collaboration with Jim Stokoe & Mike Moran.
Very 80's. Very catchy.....

Sale Of The Century! Yes, that was it!
Ah yes, the Central TV ident just before "Auf Wiedersehen, Pet" and the classic opening intro of Joe Fagin's "Breaking Away", brilliant stuff!

Gene, the Central ident is very familiar to me as well. Although mainly for the Midlands region, it also covered parts of the Thames Valley such as Oxford. Inspector Morse was a Central programme of course.

I quite liked the HTV ident and the weird Synth like sound it had. Athough being in Granadaland we could pick up HTV and up until 1982 and S4C the Welsh channels broadcast some programmes at different times to the English ITV/BBC. I suppose cos it's made most of the programmes I like Thames has to be the company I like most.

As a kid I remember the LWT one, meant the weekend was here! My old mum still calls ITV 'ITA'!
