While searching the web looking for upcoming car shows, I thought I'd take a look at the Ace Café website as they're always busy with events.
It is a brilliant site that covers all the history of the Café, its bombing in WW2, it's demise in the 60's, it's use as a tyre fitting depot, and then it's resurrection back in 2001 into the Ace Café in the guise as we see it today.
Anyway, while looking through the site it detailed that it was a key location in the 1964 film "The Leather Boys". Although it sounds like a 'niche' market, 'gender orientation' film, it was actually a film on general release that starred Dudley Sutton and Rita Tushingham. Having looked at a couple of stills from the film I thought it would be good to make the 'Then & Now' comparison.
Then (1964):
Now (2004):
A fantastic restoration job in my opinion and well worthy of the trade it now has with the events that it holds.
Sam.

I've been there several times its a great place with good history. Its good news that it was saved, places like this never usually return to their former glory and its amazing how little the building has changed over the years considering the industrial area it sits in.

I think its saving grace has been its catchment area, with the West Coast and Midland mainlines close by it was often a meeting place for railway workers from Neasden, Acton, Old Oak Common, Willesden and Cricklewood as well as 'the ton up boys' on their bikes etc. When my Jag and Cooper S are MOT'd I'm going to make the effort to get down there more often, it's years since I've dropped in for a cuppa. I work freight trains past it most weeks on the WCML and see all sorts of vehicles gathering on the slip road going up to the Ace..... it's a grand view from up there!

With me being a scooter owner, you see lots of scooterists with either pin badges, stickers on panels or helmets saying 'Ace Café London',and I'm ashamed to say I've never looked into it more.Great pics-looks like a top place for a coffee.

I've been past there many times and always wanted to go along for an event. If I get myself a bike sometime I may just have to go along. They have the Kawasaki Sunday coming up on the 26th April but I'm on the lookout for a late 70's Suzuki.
I've also got a mk2 Granada but that's off the road for a while to have some panels replaced so I'll keep an eye on their events for another Granada meet.

I've been there a few times. A couple of the Granada meets which I managed to park right outside the door and also Anglias at the ace meet. Great place and the tea is good. I think the next Granada meet is in july on an evening.
