Was just thinking myself, about Ashes to Ashes! February 7th 2008, the first ep was transmitted and wasn't disappointed!
I wonder what people would think if a series was made set in the early 90's, as that would be a similar time gap nowadays to what A2A is now. Would it work and get people nostalgic? Jury's still out on that one. Not sure as I don't remember the early 90's being all that special. ;-)

I can't see that working Gerry. Perhaps for some, but not me. The 90's weren't all that special in my opinion.

The only thing I can say that for me personally was great about the 90's was having a young family, that work and income was good, and we as a family were able to enjoy what the income bought us.
When it came to TV, music, style and fashion however, there was very little to get any modicum of nostalgia over apart from a CGI and computer animation-free series of Thomas The Tank Engine, and the heavily computer animated Toy Story. I have great memories of sitting with our kids watching them over and over again.

I wish Spender would get a rerun. That was around 1990, Cossie Sapphire and all.

The first episode aired on my 15th Birthday, so I'm very pleased to share that date with the best programme ever (sorry, Sam, it's true!) A 90s-based version ... not sure I could cope with quite that much Oasis! I do wish that they'd broadcast more of both series - they don't have to be before or after; I'm sure Sam got up to enough within the 7 years he was there to fill a few more series. I certainly did! ;)

Blimey and i still haven't got round to watching it Scary how quick it goes. Really?? You must! Have you watched Life on Mars, or neither? That said, it's perhaps not as easy as it should be to watch A2A - one of my colleagues confessed to me that they'd never seen it and I took a peek at Amazon (to make the argument that they had no excuse, it was really easy to get hold of) and it's actually very expensive! I wish they'd release a blu-ray version. I think they have with LOM. I call favouritism

I put the question to Ashley Pharoah a while ago and he had no idea why it had never seen a Blu Ray release...

I guess with newer things it's less necessary - when they remaster old programmes for blu-ray the difference in quality can be astronomical. i suppose for a series this recent, that's not an issue. But I still want it!

It would be worth it if they crammed the set with extras / outtakes / behind the scenes footage etc.

Very, very, very true! There's not nearly enough of that for these series. :(
I do love the Comic Relief and Sport Relief (?) sketches. It would be great to be able to own those rather than hoping against hope that no one removes them from youtube. And I have a sneaking suspicion that there are some amazing outtakes out there somewhere!
