On my journey back home tonight I spotted what looked to be a Vauxhall HC Viva Magnum in metallic green, I think it was an L reg but can't be sure as I was driving at the time.
It is a new car to the area so hopefully I'll get to see it again when I can grab a picture. It looked like it had Rostyle wheels on and fatter tyres, but definitely had the characteristic four headlights which makes me almost certain that it was a Magnum.
Anyone else spotted any classic cars out and about on their travels? Pictures would help too.
Sam.

I haven't managed to photograph any lately but there are usually quite a few classics knocking about in daily use round our way. This is an old shot from about seven years ago but my Rover 2000TC and my mates MGB GT were often parked side by side almost daily for about eighteen months at work, both cars found new homes later on but sadly the old GEC office building in the background is no more... Not quite what you'd call a 'spot' as both cars are mine, but I thought I'd include the photo anyway to get the ball rolling - my '73 2000TC on the drive while my '71 3500 Auto sits out on the road back in 2007, in hindsight I should have kept the green 3500 as it was superb to drive, very comfortable with much more power than you'd expect, the only downside was the lack of factory fitted power steering... A genuine spot this one, a locally owned Stag alongside my old '69 Mk2 Cooper at the Banbury Road service station in Southam. Behind the garage is a small industrial unit which used be the home of Broadspeed Racing, back in the early '70s Jackie Stewart was a regular visiter there when he was promoting the Broadspeed modified Mk1 'Bullit' special edition Capri... My mate's 1978 SD1 2600 straight six in glorious BL Avocado Green, the second shot has my old P5B Coupe lurking behind, it's difficult to believe they came out of the same factory... I'll post some more later when I can find 'em!

Good shots Villain thanks for posting. That SD1 looks great in the very 70's Avocado hue When you have time I hope you will consider uploading some more shots of your past car history into our members motors section. I for one would like to see some more of these glorious old machines.

Sam. Nice old motor Sam. My mate Bob Ferris had a Viva some years ago. He replaced it with a red Chevette about 40 years ago but never had much luck with it. He was forever replacing the wing mirrors and was always getting the wheels nicked. Silly sod hoyed a brick through the window one night too when he thought he'd locked his keys in it - only for me to discover the passenger door was actually unlocked. He wasn't impressed !
Then he had the misfortune to plough into the back of a caravan on a petrol station forecourt.

Fantastic pictures Villain
I'm certainly envious of your history of classics there and I think that "Members' Classic Cars" deserves its own thread.
Let's continue this thread with classic car spotting and I'll start another thread for members' classics in the "Members' Motors" section.

Well, there was another 'spot' for me this evening when taking the dog for a walk. Again I was without a camera but, certainly not to my taste, travelling along the road at a far speed was a 2CV!
Although a common sight once, there does not seem to be that many in daily use and their prices seem to be on the up as for some reason unknown to me they have a cult following. This one tonight looked to be cream with burgundy wings and carried the (illegally spaced!) registration A1 2CV S. The owner probably paid a good few bob for the registration too.

You're right Sam, 2CVs used to be everywhere, usually driven by 'Earth Mother' types, students, hippies and the like. A few more 'spots' from the musty depths of my hard drive... This old Mk2 Jag caught my eye in Rothley, Leicestershire some time back, a 'basic' 2.4 litre model, pretty much the poverty spec of its day with sod all power and plain steel wheels with hub caps, but still a lovely looking thing to behold... Stopping off in Henley-in-Arden to use the public khazi one day, this gorgeous 1961 Rolls Royce parked up in front of us, driven by a tweeedy old boy and his fur coat wearing missus... Can't to find the original colour shot so this will have to do, parked up in my old Fiesta a few years back I caught this local Jag 420G in the rear view mirror, used to see it almost daily on the way to work but it seems to have disappeared...
