I watched 8th September 1988 last night
Introduced by Mike Read and Andy Crane. Andy Crane?! Who he? I have no recollection of him at all.
Andy Crane was DJ - and then went on to alternately present Childrens BBC during the "Broom Cupboard" days with Andi Peters, Philip Schofield. I think he may have also (at some point) presented or stood in on a couple of the BBCs Saturday Morning kids shows - Live & Kicking / Going Live.
Then he seemed to vanish...
Always loved that "Yello" track.
I think it pops up on Now 13. (The last one I have on vinyl!)
The Yello track does appear on Now 13. Actually, a lot of the tracks from this time period on TOTP are on the Now 13 set. Tracks from Yazz, Jane Wiedlin, Womack & Womack, The Proclaimers, Phil Collins, The Hollies, All About Eve, Breathe, and more appear on Now 13. Marshall

Yes - been digging out the Now albums and looking at what popped up on them. I have Now 1-13 on Vinyl - and 14 to current on CD.
Why the hell I have them from the last 15 years - I don't know, as I don't know any song or artist on them. I think I just continued to buy them to keep the collection going. TBH- I don't think I've even listened to any post about Now 43.

What a treat on Friday night 15 September 1988 and 22 September 1988
Actually, and as usual for 1988, it was slim pickings
Amazing how many old tunes and other influences are in the charts, The Hollies at number one, Bill Withers, Phil Collins covering A Groovy Kind of Love, the Pasadenas with a pastiche of a 60s soul look.
There are a couple of great tunes though - Big Fun by Inner City, and Teardrops by Womack and Womack
One episode was Peter Powell's last ever show - all a bit cringey, as he and Mayo bantered through the show
Andy Crane back for another
Other than that it was left to the Pet Shop Boys and Domino Dancing for the only other glimmer of interest in amongst some truly shocking music - unless I've forgotten something?

TOTP only played a small bit of the Inner City video too LE and considering it did fairly well chart wise surprised they didn't invite them for a studio performance too. Here's the full vid in decent quality too. Yeah agree Womack and Womack's Teardrops was a good and original tune from back then too.

Speaking of Andy Crane I saw him for the first time in years last week on a repeat of 'Pointless'.
