Devo - Satisfaction - though love the Stones version too
The Slits - Grapevine - though love Marvin's version too
Rod Stewart - Reason To Believe - way better than Tim Hardin's original version
I'm sure plenty more will now pop into my head

Good shout on The Slits version of Grapevine LE. They put their stamp and own it so much so you don't think of it as a cover.

Bending the rules slightly here in that I don't think this is better than the original song but I have to doff my cap to this version of Stairway To Heaven by Heart feat Jason Bonham on drums. This is a cracker. I urge you play this on a good set of sepakers or headphones and crank it up . They nail this and in front of Led Zeppelin's surviving members who clearly agree its a good job. Must say the gospel choir and orchestra really adds to proceedings. What do you think of this version.

As previously discussed elsewhere on the Beatles with me old mukka Steve Austin, Beatles cover versions are usually a poor job where they never seem to do the songs justice. I just found an exception to that rule with this cover of The Long And Winding Road live at the Albert Hall. George Michael nails it and dare I say he improves it

I have heard a couple of bands in local pubs do good cover versions of Kings of Leon songs; not sure if anyone famous has covered any of their songs. I don't like the singer from Kings of Leon's voice!

Is it only me that thinks that the Dr Who girl Jodie Whittakers version of Coldplays Yellow that they are playing on Radio 2 a lot is far better than Coldplays?

Its for charity so fair enough but it is awful (Bit like the 13th Dr Who nonsense) As for Coldplay, They have made some really good records but an awful lot of turnip
