I don't know if most of you will like this one, but I do so here's The Future (The Human League)'s cover of The Four Tops, Reach Out.
It's certainly an interesting interpretation of it whether you like it or not. Not for me thanks DE, that is almost as bad as the cover they did of the Get Carter theme and that should never have made it on to an album! Sam.

Quite like Inner City's take on Stephanie Mills Watch'a Gonna Do With My Lovin'.

Perhaps not strictly a cover version as Manfred Mann recorded and released their version of the song first. However, Bob Dylan did write the original in 1967, a few weeks before it hit No.1 in the UK for the British band. I prefer their version to Dylan's and others

Originally written by guitarist Richard Supa and sung by Tom Jones in 1974, 'Something 'Bout You Baby I Like' was later covered by Status Quo in 1981 and is a much better version, IMO.

Jackie De Shannon recorded the original version of 'Needles and Pins' in 1963, but it was a cover by The Searchers which was the most successful, reaching No.1 in early 1964. Later in 1977 Smokie recorded a version of the song, and it is probably my favourite. Vi

Thanks for posting Vi. Out of all three I'd have to say The Searchers is the standard although the other two are very good. A classic case of a cover preferred to the original.

One cover version which I prefer to the original is Mud’s version of Lean on Me, from December 76.
