I read an article about Owen Luder, the architect of the Trinity Square car park used in the film, saying he was saddened by the hostility shown towards what he considered to be a highlight in his career. Since it was demolished a new shopping complex has been built on the site and this was shortlisted for the Carbuncle Cup,an award given annually to the ugliest building of the last 12 months. Ironically Owen was on the panel of judges. It didn't win, a building in Woolwich was awarded it in 2014.

There's quite a bit of Get Carter material on Mirrorpix, the Mirror archive site.

With a classic film, such as this dvd extras are important.
In this case the audio commentary by Michael Caine, director Mike Hidges and cinematographer is informative.
Dvd contains 3 trailers - the one with MC walking along I believe The Strand introducing the film as a red bus advertising GC adds to the authentic early 70s feel.

What is the best version of the DVD to get? I understand that some versions have the US soundtrack, so I want make sure that I get the correct UK version. Thanks The Saint

Avoid the Blu-Ray release as I'm told that's the one with the US dubbed Soundtrack.
This is the one to go far I think
Get Carter DVD
I can well imagine a 4:3tv Get Carter Meet at some point in the future

I haven't got the blu ray of Get Carter myself but apparently ( from reading comments on amazon reviews ), after customer complaints re the dubbed soundtrack ( which occurs during the pre credits scenes only, the cockney accents/dialogue has been 'toned down' & re-voiced by other actors ) Warner Brothers responded ( see amazon user comment below ) by issuing discs with the original soundtrack, so if you buy the blu ray from new it should be the 'corrected' release. Whilst the dubbing is unnecessary, it only affects a couple of mins of the film so if you do end up with that version it's not a wasted purchase. I've seen screencaps of the blu ray & whilst it's been criticised for not having been cleaned up, etc. it looks much better than the dvd & apparently the sound is much better too. Btw, Caine, Hodges & the director of photography recorded their commentaries separately so it dips in & out of each person's comments rather than a running commentary with all three people present. I mention that because those kind of commentaries are seldom as entertaining as having a few people commenting together. Here's a review of the blu ray- www.blu-ray.com/movies/Get-Carter-Blu-ray/70437/"I received an email from Diane at Warner Brothers a few days ago, It said new stock was sent to the shops after the 4th of July so all versions at shops should be the correct ones, as there is no label on it to say corrected version it is going to be pot luck, when I replied and asked her if they were offering an Exchange service like Amazon.com do I got no reply"
