Won't be the same without Edd I'm afraid.
I won't bother with the new series;I like Mike but I'm not keen on Ant Anstead from that show he did with Phillip Glenister. He never seemed to get his hands dirty.

I only see this intermittently on one of the Sky channels at night. I do like Edd, I think he is a great mechanic

Yes, I do like Edd. I think it's great seeing some of the work that goes into the cars and some scenes you can actually see that Edd has been grafting, obviously we don't see all of it. I believe the reason for him leaving the show was the producers wanted to cut out the oily bits and he doesn't agree with it, quite rightly so. The best part of the show I think.

I've watched a couple of the new series with Ant and it's not bad to be honest. I didn't want to like it as, like most of you, I though Edd was great but Ant is just as proficient.
Mike is still annoying but what is strange is that from what I understand, Edd wanted to leave because the technical stuff was being skirted over but in the couple of episodes I've seen, Any gives some info on how a turbo works and the finer points of head gasket replacement as well as repairing an exhaust manifold crack, stuff which I thought was being sidelined.
Early days yet but it's enjoyable enough and I'd rather watch this than the plethora of crap on many of the other TV channels.
Anyone else seen the new series yet?

I've seen the one with the Escort Cosworth and although the greasy bits were well presented by Ant I thought the section with the designer was a bit tenuous and I wasn't keen on the three-level spoiler. It may have been efficient but I thought it detracted rather than improved the looks.
I think it will take a few episodes to warm to Ant better as we have got used to Edd now but it is worth looking back at very early episodes to see how Edd's presenting style improved over the years and hopefully Ant will be the same.
As regards the content of the program that seems to be in conflict with what Edd was saying about the production which raises the question of did he jump or was he pushed? Another YouTube clip sees Mike bad-mouthing Edd and in a roundabout way saying the he'd become a bit of a diva:
Not a very politically correct series of statements from Mike in the same way as Edd's YouTube posted clips but it raises the question of which side is telling the whole truth?
Going on what I've heard previously I'm actually tending to believe Mike.

I thought I'd revive this thread as I've been giving Wheeler Dealers a few viewings recently.
I must say that this has now really gone off the boil for me. Where I used to watch it every week, the past series 15 I have just left recorded and not bothered about until deciding to catch up on a couple in recent weeks to see if it would reignite my interest in the program.
Sadly it has not and there are a combination of issues that have pretty well killed the program for me.
First and foremost is Ant. With every car Mike brings back there's the over-rehearsed responses where there's either total dismay or over-excitement. Second is also Ant. With every piece of car he picks up or every job he tackles it is accompanied by over-exuberance and complete awe like an impressionable schoolboy. Third is Ant again. Every test drive towards the end of the show has his exaggerated fear/worry/concern whatever that Mike is thrashing the car uncontrollably. Fourth is, you've guessed it, Ant. His 'unrehearsed' banter/backchat lines come across as over-rehearsed again. Fifth is not Ant but Mike. His 'unplanned interruptions' as Ant is talking to camera is now predictably in every program. Sixth is Mike again. Selling a car for $22k and only $700 profit with 30 hours labour hardly constitutes real profit Seventh is the location. Why are they based in the states all the time? The yank-spec motors that they pick up are hideous - even the Capri looked second rate.
I don't know how many more I will bother to watch. I'de given up on Top Gear some years ago and looks like I'll be doing the same here.
Perhaps it is the same for both programs, do they need to go back to revamp the original format? It would generate more interest for me if they did.

Watched wheelers dealers today! Absolutely Love this program, and like how Edd changes everything with the featured car making it so easy and making it look new again. today’s car was a red Ferrari 308 GT 4 Dino. they bought it for £8750 manifold cost. £850 half body paint job £1,909 wheel refurb. £260 asorted parts £129
if the car cost 90k new in 74’ why on earth did Mike just ask for 13k, surely it’s worth a ton more ?? It was a lovely looking car! the only qualms I have about this program is when Mike insists on changing the colour of a particular colour from its original one! When this takes place it’s to annoyingly painful to watch and will just change tv channel lol! I certainly don’t think the series is the same since Edd left! he made every job he did on a car sound so interesting!

90k in 1974? You mean the equivalent price! I think the 1974 new car price figure would have been lower figure than 90,000 but I'm sure a good price would have been netted on sale.

if the car cost 90k new in 74’ why on earth did Mike just ask for 13k, surely it’s worth a ton more ?? It was a lovely looking car! What you need to consider is that they don't actually need to make any money from flogging the car. Even if they only made a few hundred quid from each sale, that is small fry when compared to the cost of making the programme itself. If that was run as a going concern like a proper business then their business model is fundamentally flawed and they'd be insolvent in no time. The actual money is made by flogging the series to Discovery, Quest etc etc and the real revenue is generated from the advertising before, during, and after the programme itself. Yes the programme was far better when Edd China was doing the spanner work despite Mike Bellend showing his face but now the program with Mike Bellend and Ant Arsewipe is so septic orientated that the comedic attempts are overplayed and the genuinely interesting spannerwork has been dumbed down. I'll happily watch the repeats with Edd but won't bother with any future series or the repeats with Ant. Sam.
