DJ is doing rather a lot on Gold lately. Why now I wonder? A net worth of about £8M so it can't be for the cash... He's looking his age now too isn't he? What is he? 77? I hope it's not a last gasp on his behalf.
Gene.

I read David's biography a couple of years ago, and a good read it was too.
David has been a keen deep sea diver for many years. (Not sure if he's called a day on the hobby by this time. Probably he has.) Anyway he told the story of how he very nearly cashed in his chips once while diving in the Bahamas, as I recall.
Let's hope he's around for many years to come.
Charles.

I read about an arrangement David Jason has with an entrepreneur who stages OFAH events. I think this guy has merchandising rights to OFAH as well as organising a convention where various OFAH stars appear in person. From what I recall he also has a portable set of the Trotters living room & a replica of their 3 wheeler that is taken to shopping centres & punters pay to have their photo taken next to them. In the article I read there was a photo of Jason signing a load of OFAH items & what seemed to me like a rather cynical comment from the entrepreneur about how it's a license to print money.
I came across this Russell Harty clip which features David Jason, N Lyndhurst & Lennard Pearce in character, they appear 20 mins in, listen out for an unfortunate joke about a certain disgraced celebrity. Also on the show at 14 mins is Leslie Sarony, better known to us as 'Soldier' from The Sweeney.

I spotted this video on YouTube before. Nicholas Lyndhurst looks incredibly young in it.

He looks to be in his late teens. Not connected the two before but looking at the clip of Lyndhurst's wet face reminded me strongly of Milton Johns. I think the Russell Harty clip of Lennard Pearce may have been the last time he appeared as Grandad, the series they'd probably by that time finished work on was his last, he died a year later in 1984. Saw this unlikely story about him- www.mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/only-fools-horses-grandad-chance-11271233

I can see why that would have rankled with Leonard over the years

Interesting story about Leonard and despite those denouncing it in the comment on that site, I think it's entirely plausible. I've seen Leonard in a number of different acting roles but he will always be "Grandad" from OFAH to me. A brilliant character who in my opinion was better than Uncle Albert.
I concur with you Arth. Milton Johns and Nick Lyndhurst are very alike.
Gene.

I much prefer him to Buster Merryfield whose performance is a bit on the theatrical side imo, I prefer the early series anyway, the show lost its way for me when Del & Rodney started to make a success of their lives- wives & the rest. I also think the other characters, Trigger, Boycey & co, played too big a part. If you look at Steptoe or even Laurel & Hardy, it's about the relationship between 2 people, nothing comes between them, I think OFAH lost its essence when it opened out & brought wives, etc. into play. Same mistake has been made with so many shows including Auf W Pet.
