Oh yes! the Mrs. told me earlier in the week, that it was finishing today, and they were starting it again from episode one. She's been watching it faithfully every day for several years now. I feel a bit sorry for her, she loved the show. Do you know if it came to any kind of conclusion Saint? I haven't been following it myself. I thought they started making the show a bit dark towards the end, if you get my meaning. Also the constant background music drove me up the wall, and I noticed they had started filming it rather than making it on tape. They seemed to be going for an American audience near the end, but it mustn't have been successful. It had a very long run indeed though. I will have a look for the final episode on catchup.

Charles I know what you mean, it lost it's way towards the end. I noticed that the final episode (series 26 episode 31) is repeated on Monday at 11am directly before series 1 episode 1 is shown. Cheers Saint, no doubt the wife will be watching it from the start again.
It will be interesting to see a lot of the actors in their younger days. I think it first went on the air about 1983.
I will have a look at the last episode. I hear a lot ot The Bill stars have been on ITV's Good Morning this week. It should be on YouTube.

I liked watching 'The Bill' years ago before its plots started to become more like a soap tv series. I kept watching for a while, then went back to watch the last episode. It was shown every week in Australia. Good cast.

Wasn't the first episode titled "Wooden Tops" ?

"Woodentop" was the pilot episode - originally broadcast as part of the Storyboard series, but Drama channel is starting from the first "The Bill", episode titled "Funny Ol' Business - Cops and Robbers", so therefore won't be showing "Woodentop". You can watch Woodentop here: The Saint

Chris Ellison (Who played Burnside on The Bill and also of course was in Queen"s Pawn) is appearing in a Ruth Rendall murder play soon, near where I live. I did consider going to see it at one point.

The Bill was good in its early days and up to about the early/mid 90s but from then on it lost its way big time and ended up a rubbishy soap opera. At its best it was excellent.
