Bronco Bullfrog is a film I'd heard about for years but didn't get to see before it's DVD release circa 2010. It's a story about low horizon teenagers in East London, we follow Del and his girlfriend and mates, and a laddish tear away called Bronco Bullfrog as they try to break away from their hum drum lives. Filmed in 1969 in stark black and white, It's said to be in the style of documentary realism, and all of the cast are amateurs. This lends it a 'warts and all' quality that was slightly off putting to me initially but a further viewing ensured it grew on me. Early skinhead styles can be seen, that help to give the film its alternative working class flavour. I'm also amused when Del takes his girlfriend to speedway for a date ( I know from personal experience it doesn't impress a gal! ). The film has a soul type soundtrack by a band called 'The Audience' who later became a prog rock act. You definitely feel that time capsule vibe when watching this film. A true and authentic youth culture classic.

This looks interesting Bojan. I'll give it a whirl as soon as I get chance. The B&W cinematography certainly gives it an edge.

60's London, what's not to like?
I watched the trailer and was quite impressed so will give this a spin. Looks fairly good for an amateur production. Cheers Bojan

I'd heard of it & was aware of the Flipside dvd/blu ray release but I've not seen it other than a short clip. One of the extras on the dvd, 'Seven Green Bottles', a 1975 public information film made in collaboration with the Met warning kids of the consequences of breaking the law is also on youtube I noticed.

it is often mentioned that this film may have influenced Pete Townshends presentation of the original Quadrophenia album.
From memory I believe the use of the Greenwich pedestrian tunnel is similar.
I would recommend this film for the period scenes of London.

You can find the whole thing on YouTube
I've watched it a couple of times
V low budget and improvised but reckon it would appeal to many people here

I enjoyed it when it was on London Live around 18 or so months ago, sure I did a post about it around that time. It's a bit like Ken Loach's Family Life in feel and as you say LE it's ragged but it's real, but strange non of the cast really acted after it too?
