From what I've seen of them both the Tarrant and Portillo train series are good IMO.
It's interesting that people seem to warm to some (not all) ex-politician's (all persuasions) when they go into the media/TV too.

Portillo seems quite reasonable these days but I seem to remember him being a hardnosed barsteward in his MP days. As for Widdecombe, even her fellow Tories weren't keen, she was known as 'Doris Karloff'. A lot of this 'reinvention' of formerly unpleasant types goes on, Gordon Ramsay for instance, his first ever tv appearance was on an undercover documentary about bullying in the workplace. It featured footage of him treating waiters like shit, but somehow or other he turned it around & used it to his advantage.

Maybe Portillo missed his vocation in life and should have been a train conductor. Might have been less of a tit.

Happened to see some of 'All Star Musicals' earlier, this nonsense featured celebs singing songs from musicals, one was Raquel from Only Fools And Horses who was truly terrible, but worse was to come in the form of Alan Titchmarsh. Haven't laughed so much in days

I saw a clip of this the other day and I thought the same. What a pile of Titchmarsh must be on the bones of his arse to put himself on offer like this.

Caught the last few minutes of it by accident. It looked appalling, the fact that John Barrowman was presenting it didn’t bode well anyway.

This might be a bit controversial but, all this transgender stuff. What is going on? This morning I put the ITV breakfast news programme on and there was a report that some journalist was questioned by the police under caution for "misgendering" a trans sexual person on twitter, ie using the word he rather than she. I just don't get any of this stuff at all I'm afraid, to me there are just two genders, men and women, what the hell is all this about and what a waste of police time and resources with the epidemic of knife crime.
This is yet another reason why I love 43TV it takes me away from the collective insanity which seems to be taking over and back to a time and place (the 70s) where I felt at home and to a world which was understandable. Imagine Jack or Gene being sent to investigate misgendering "hate crime" the mind boggles.

Fair enough if you don't like being called whatever but for god sake, don't get the police involved, what a total waste of time/money/resources

I caught a bit about the Journalist questioned - and thought I had misheard the story. I totally agree with you - we have an epidemic of knife crime though it's always been there - it's just that when you get more than one incident in the same week; you end up with a Media Frenzy. I feel Police time should be spent dealing with Knife Crimes, Robberies, Burglaries, Anti-Social Behaviour etc.
I accept - everyone is different in their looks, ways, beliefs, sexuality, race, religion and interests - without this, the world would be boring.
Indeed - another good reason to come to 43TV - it get's back to a time & place when the world was more straightforward.
